Guanacaste Region
Guanacaste was became a part of Costa Rica by annexation in 1824. Guanacaste Day is on July 25th and they celebrate each year with a great big fiesta including bull teasing and traditional folk dancing.
This area of the country is well known for its beautiful, dry, sunny beaches. Because there is little to no rain the entire “dry season” (Dec – April) many tourists have chosen this location as their favorite tropical destination during the northern winter months. All-inclusive vacations are available in this region and access has been made quicker and easier with the addition of the Liberia International Airport (LIB). If you are looking to find hot tropical sunshine to escape from the winter blues, this is, literally, the hot spot of Costa Rica.
