Central Pacific Region

For a perfect sunset across the Pacific Ocean, there are few places that compare to the Central Pacific Region of Costa Rica. Take a drive down the Costanera (coastal highway #34) from Puntarenas through Manuel Antonio and witness a spectacular array of beaches and mountainous landscapes. The scenery of this area alone will make your vacation most memorable.

Surfing is the number one attraction of the whole Pacific Coast, most notably at Playa Hermosa and Jacó Beach. A ride down coastal rapids on the Rio Savegre or Rio Naranjo is a great method for enjoying unspoiled primary rain forest and jungle wildlife. Nature lovers are more than likely to be fond of Carara National Park and Manuel Antonio National Park where lush greenery and exotic birds like scarlet macaws, toucans, and aracaris are found. The greatest appeal of this region is the accessibility it maintains being in close proximity to the nations capital, San Jose.
